What We Do

The cost of a Catholic school education has increased dramatically over the last decade, making it difficult for many families in our area to afford tuition. The Guardian Catholic Schools believe that every child within our reach should have access to a quality education, and that’s why we offer tuition assistance programs to families who qualify.

Financial Assistance Programs

There are many financial assistance programs offered through the state of Florida.

Since 1995, The Guardian Catholic Schools has granted tuition assistance scholarships to more than 1,600 students attending St. Pius V and Holy Rosary Catholic Schools. Our goal is to increase our scholarship funding to $700,000 per year by 2009. To qualify, families must demonstrate financial need and students must not receive any other scholarship. If you have any questions regarding The Guardian Catholic Schools scholarship program, or would like to apply, please call the school you are enrolling your child in directly, either St. Pius V or Holy Rosary.

The state of Florida provides full tuition for children who are four years old by September 1 of the enrollment year. Families must apply for VPK and bring the Certificate of Eligibility to the selected school campus to initiate enrollment. For more information, call the Early Learning Coalition of Duval County at (904) 208-2044 or visit www.elcofduval.org. This program is free to all Florida residents, regardless of income.

The Step Up for Students scholarship pays full tuition and book fees, but not school registration. Families who meet the income guidelines and are either enrolling a child new to Kindergarten or first grade, or a child in grades 2 through 7 who was enrolled in a Florida public school in the previous year are eligible. You must first apply for this scholarship through the Step Up for Students office, and once verification of funding has been received, you can enroll your child in one of The Guardian Catholic Schools. For more information, call (904) 247-6033 or visit www.scholarshipfunding.org.

The Guardian Catholic Schools accept reimbursement from JCC for Extended Day Care for students in PreK-3 and PreK-4. This is a need-based program and parents must initiate this service through JCC. For more information contact JCC at (904) 630-3679 or visit www.jaxkids.org. The JCC is located on 1095 A. Philip Randolph Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32206.
